For years, water providers were forced to use 20th century water meters to manage the distribution of water.
The addition of AMR and AMI modules to the meters improved the collection of usage data. However, these meters required a
battery to run the module, and they didn’t address critical needs of their customers such as the ability to turn a
meter on/off remotely and improving the accuracy of the measurement remotely.
